Happy Memorial Day weekend.

I often reflect on those whom have served and for those who currently serve. In theses moments, I am filled with gratitude for what they have fought and served to protect.

Here is a sweet story of a WWII veteran reviving his metas:

World War II veteran receives metals

As we travel south to New Orleans and Bay Saint Louis, we will do as much as we can to run around the city connecting with family & friends. Over the years, the wants and needs lists of what we should do when we travel doesn’t always align.

There is always so much to do and so many places to be. We are blessed in that we have had the resources to do so much. Of course, we want to do everything! Do what you can, when you can!

We have had the chance to go to the World War II museum in New Orleans. It was fascinating. Learning and seeing the boats that delivered soldiers to the beaches of Europe was amazing and overwhelming!

I can’t even imagine!!!

Reading or watching movies: “Saving Private Ryan”, “Pearl Harbor”, “Unbroken”, “Boys in the boat”, “Dunkirk”

My father rarely spoke of his time at war. I recall that he was stationed in Mineral Wells when he first enlisted. In my twenties, I became familiar with Mineral Wells when I worked at Camp Grady Spruce.

While I was in Mineral Wells, I turned 21. On our days off we would visit the local hootenanny’s. My dad would have been about sixteen when he was training to go to war. I imagine he spent some time in the same hootenannies that I did.

Chris says “he fell in love with me” when he visited me on Possum Kingdom Lake. When I helped him climb up and down my challenge course wall, was when he knew he loved me! I remember looking into his eyes when he was struggling to repel off the 100 feet wall. I helped many up and down the wall that summer! I said “look into my eyes, keep your legs straight and walk down the wall, keeping your legs straight in front of you”.

So as we celebrate Memorial Day weekend, I am remind what satirist, John Oliver or Trevor Noah said “it seems like America forgets that they are at war”?!

When Chris and I were expecting, we did not find out the sex of the baby until the birth. When Genevieve Grace was born, Chris asked Dr. Pickhardt “What is it?” The doctor replied “female”. Chris said it took him a minute or two before it registered that female is a girl.

At some point Chris came back into my room and said “boys drool and girls rule”. I had to ask “what”. He explained that he had spoken with Andre and that is what his girls said!

As I substitute teach at Haas Hall Academy, I am reminded of my friends and my past.

Jason Moore and I had a drama classes in my early teens. I recall we did a production of Winnie the Pooh at the NWA mall. I remember rehearsals. At the mall, I skipped a huge section of the play. Therefore I had to improv and try to get some of the dialogue back into the show. Wing it! I recall my mom discussing plays that she was in through college. She described feeling outside of herself looking at herself below. Thinking I have to get back in my body and say my lines. Terrifying and interesting all in one.

When I was in graduate school, my supervisor worked with a large population of women whom suffered from DID, previously know as multiple personality disorder. Many of these women had experienced extreme amounts of abuse. Dissociating is a coping mechanism that people’s brains sometimes do when they are processing something difficult. I recall someone describing it to a class of mine. We were asked “have you ever driven somewhere and missed a turn or forgotten how you got there? Of course we all had. They explained well you dissociated.

Jason and I continued to be friends through out high school. My girls get embarrassed because I often bring up Jason’s work. I think they question if I really know him.

He is one of the many the #faroutstars that I have been lucky to know.

Jason has been working on Cher on broadway. Chris and I had the opportunity to see Cher in Vegas. We went to see Mark play with Seal. I was disappointed that Bette was on hiatus from her Vegas show. I have enjoyed Cher as an actress more then a musician. Chris and I rested rather then see her perform. Cher is definitely a performer that I have come to appreciate and admire. Not sure I will make s special trip to see Cher. However if it travels at some point, maybe I will get the chance to see Jason’s work on Cher.

How many social media apps are there? 200+. More developing daily.

When I first went to the interactive media conference I was blown away by information. It was soo exciting. I was fired up and had all kinds of ideas.

I came back and was immediately questioned by others in my work world. Who said that’s not what Facebook is for?

It took the wind out of my sails. I was discouraged frustrated and pretty much gave up. Trying to explore new ideas to transition our business to the world it needed to be in.

Instead I did what others did. Keep doing things the same. Knowing our business’s death would come. 13 year and the Star Shopper died.

Burnout was high as I worked at the STAR SHOPPER. My Finical adviser sent me a book about finding your passion in life. I know others got frustrated by my exhausting bitching, morning and complaining.

For what ever reason I feel a bit regenerated to try to create something that is more meaningful. Trying to find joy more.

Will tiktok be a part of it?!
